Commenting on news that Aberdeen City Council are set to increase Council Tax for the coming year by 8.6%, Nanette Milne, MSP for Northeast Scotland said:
“Hard pressed taxpayers in Aberdeen will understandably be incensed by this latest tax rise.
“Aberdeen has received the lowest per-head grant in Scotland from the Local Government Funding Settlement. This is typical of the Lib-Dem/Labour Executive siphoning money from the Northeast, to fund their heartlands in the Central Belt.

MILNE WELCOMES RECOGNITION FOR LOCAL HEROES

Nanette Milne, MSP for Northeast Scotland has urged local people to nominate ‘local heroes’ for a new national award. The Nationwide Awards for Voluntary Endevour recognise members of the local community who happily give up their time to help others. F.S.A. TURNS DEAF EAR TO PRACTICAL COMMON SENSE

Whilst welcoming the Food Standards Agency’s (FSA) recommendation that the Over Thirty Months (OTM) rule be replaced with BSE testing, North East Scotland MSP, Nanette Milne has blasted the FSA for it's lack of understanding and flexibility, and has proposed a more phased and measured approach to the removal of the OTM rule, a view which is favoured by everyone in the industry.
